As we are in search of new links for our link building campaigns, it is very easy for us to overlook some of the easiest ones at times. It’s very common knowledge that in order for your local business to stand a chance against its competitors in the Internet marketing game, getting your Google+ Local listing is imperative. What some people have never noticed is that you can actually get a link to your website from your Google Plus user Profile!
Setting up your Google+ Profile Link
When you are in your user profile, you have a section titled Links where you can link to your YouTube, Facebook, or LinkedIn accounts, as well as others. The most valuable link, however, is going to be the one in the “Contributor to” section. Once you click the “Edit” button, click on the “Add Custom Link” button in the “Contributor to” section. Upon clicking the “Add Custom Link” button, you are asked to enter the Label information and the URL information. The Label is what you want the link to look like, in my example shown, I just used the domain name “rokitseo.com”, but you can have it shown as what ever you would really like, I just recommend you make a good representation of your company. I could have used Rokit SEO if I had wanted to, for example. Then enter the URL information, INCLUDING the “http://www.” part as well.
You can include as many links as you want to here, but it is uncertain as to whether or not you could be penalized for it. Our Google+ Profiles are audited by actual people at Google once there are too many links, or if there is a suspicious change on the user profile.
